All (or most) Employee Meeting

Wednesday, April 22, 2009
I had a very enlightening day. I attended the Annual All Employee Meeting on the West side. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but soon found it was going to be uncomfortable, no matter how you look at it. The agenda was as follows: Introduce new employees, 1 hour of the Superintendent giving his “state of the park,” (which he can discuss because he has been here for 11 months now), a presentation of “Hot Topics” (or updates from a chosen few from across the park), and a special presentation by a Doctor (who discussed how good exercise is for you). Oh wait, and there was cake, cookies, and fruit as well! It was pretty good, but some people might think it was ridiculous, or boring at the very least.
I won’t go into details or my opinions, but I’ll just say this: I hope things get better with our country—Soon! This economy is hurting everyone and (perhaps) keeping me from my dream (permanent) job at Glacier. I may be a little selfish here, because I have an amazing job, but for real…this economy sucks! End of story.
On a lighter note, I had awesome conversations with my chauffeur Kenny. Kenny works in the automotive department here at Glacier. He’s also Polish, like me! We instantly had good stuff to talk about and no topic is too big! Economy solutions, we’ve got ‘em…Climate Change, we’ve got solutions….all kinds of things were talked about and each entertaining enough to keep both of us awake during the 2 hour drive (both ways). Kudos Kenny! I enjoyed the drive, to say the least. Again, a very enlightening day.

Weather:
50’s-70’s today. Sunny. Snow in evening.
